Veterans Day: My heart, still broken

It’s Veterans Day;
today is for freedom,
for those who are so brave.

It’s for thankfulness; 
because no freedom, 
is truly free.

It’s for heroes;
those who have served,
those keeping us safe.

It’s six months today;
since my son, Sam,
passed away.

It’s time that has passed;
but my heart,
still broken.
