"Designer Drug Responsible For Center Grove Student's Death," WBIW.com, May 16, 2014.
INDIANAPOLIS - Johnson County Sheriff's deputies have arrested three suspects in connection with the death of a Center Grove High School student this week.
On Sunday, Samuel Motsay, 16, was found dead in a home in the 1000 block of Old Eagle Way.
Police confirmed Thursday that a substance found on blotter paper near Motsay's body had been identified as an illegal narcotic called 25I NBOMe.
25I NBOMe has been linked to several overdose deaths in the U.S., and was given an emergency classification as a Schedule I drug by the DEA in November of 2013.
During the course of the investigation, deputies obtained a search warrant for the home of Zachary Catron, 24, on the 3100 block of South Tacoma Street. Catron was on home monitoring due to a felony conviction in Marion County, and was out on bond in Johnson County for dealing narcotics.
Inside Catron's home, police say they found several firearms and various forms of narcotics in large quantities, including blotter paper that matched the kind found near the body of Motsay.
Deputies took Catron into custody and obtained two additional warrants for the arrest of Kyle Hazzard, 24, of Indianapolis, and Jordan Adamowicz, 19, of Greenwood, who were suspected of delivering narcotics to Motsay, according to a news release.
Police said Hazzard turned himself in to authorities later Thursday evening. On Friday afternoon, Adamowicz followed suit. Authorities said it appeared Adamowicz intended to bond out immediately.
